Nintendo has filed a new trademark for Luigi's Mansion, the classic ghostbusting title that launched with the GameCube back in 2001. For nine long years the game hasn't seen a sequel, and the Ghostbusters themselves had to make a new game to fill in the "ghostbusting vacuum." While the game's characters and items have reappeared in other Nintendo games (Professor E. Gadd has made cameos in the Mario & Luigi RPGs and Luigi even drove a Poltergust-4000 in Mario Kart DS), this is the first time since the original that Nintendo has actually filed a trademark for it.
This could mean a full-fledged sequel for the Wii, or a remake of the original in the New Play Control series, or even a DS or WiiWare game. Hopefully it's on the Wii so we can use the Wii remote as a flashlight/vacuum in a haunted house. But whatever happens with the franchise, it will be great to see the man in green back in the limelight.
